I just returned from a family reunion in Louisiana a couple of hours ago. You might want to check out the Alexandria "Town Talk" (http://www.thetowntalk.com/) for additional information. They, too, had some excellent coverage of the disaster.
On the way up I-49 from Alexandria (9/6) to Shreveport, we saw several convoys of National Guard and Regular Army troops moving down the southbound lane toward New Orleans with additional trucks and supplies. We also saw perhaps two dozen busses from half that many different private companies moving south. There were more of both as we headed west on I-20 toward Dallas an hour later. There is no doubt that there are thousands of troops heading toward New Orleans.
